Common Questions
How do I enable Screen Time access?
Open Unlock with Prayer, open app selection or Prayer Locks, and follow the Apple authorization prompt to grant Family Controls / Screen Time access. If you previously denied permission, you may need to adjust Screen Time permissions in iPhone Settings and try again in the App.
How do I select apps?
Open Unlock with Prayer, go to Prayer Locks or app selection, and choose the applications or categories you want to pause. Your selections are represented by Apple Screen Time tokens and stay on your device.
Why is a selected app not being paused?
Confirm the app is selected in Prayer Locks, verify that Screen Time / Family Controls permission is enabled, and check whether Scheduled Times or Every App Open settings apply. Some changes may require reopening the App or reselecting apps. Blocking also depends on iOS, permissions, and system behavior.
What is the difference between Every App Open and Scheduled Times?
Every App Open applies Prayer Locks each time you try to open a selected app. Scheduled Times applies Prayer Locks only during the schedule you configure. Choose the mode that fits how you want to use the App.
Why did I not receive the prayer notification?
Parts of the prayer-unlock flow use local notifications. Open iPhone Settings → Notifications → Unlock with Prayer and allow notifications. Then return to the App and try the blocked-app flow again.
What should I do if notifications were denied?
Open iPhone Settings → Notifications → Unlock with Prayer, enable Allow Notifications, and choose your preferred alert style. Then reopen Unlock with Prayer and retry the flow.
Why is the app still locked after completing a prayer?
Wait a moment for the unlock state to update. If the app remains locked, force-close and reopen Unlock with Prayer, confirm Screen Time permission is still enabled, and try again. If the issue continues, contact support with your iPhone model and iOS version.
What should I do if the original app does not reopen automatically?
Automatic return depends on supported URL schemes and iOS behavior. If automatic return fails, close or background Unlock with Prayer and manually open the temporarily unlocked application.
How does Emergency Unlock work?
Emergency Unlock is a fallback intended to help you regain access when you cannot complete the normal prayer flow. It may bypass the normal prayer flow. Availability and behavior may depend on the current version of the App.
How do I restore purchases?
Open Unlock with Prayer → Settings → Restore Purchases. Use the same Apple Account that made the original purchase.
How do I manage or cancel my subscription?
Open Unlock with Prayer → Settings → Manage Subscription to access Apple’s subscription management options. You can also open iPhone Settings → your name → Subscriptions → Unlock with Prayer.
Does deleting the app cancel my subscription?
No. Subscriptions are managed by Apple. Deleting Unlock with Prayer does not cancel your subscription. You must cancel through Apple’s subscription management interface to stop future charges.
How do I remove a custom background?
Open the background settings in the App and restore the default background. Custom photos selected through Apple PhotosPicker are stored locally on your device and are not uploaded.
How do I switch between English and Spanish?
Open Unlock with Prayer → Settings and choose your preferred language if the option is available in your version of the App.
How is my information handled?
Read our Privacy Policy. The current Release version is designed to keep most app data—including Screen Time selections, onboarding answers, prayer progress, Bible progress, streaks, achievements, and Faith Reminders—on your device. Subscriptions are processed by Apple, and Superwall is used for paywall presentation with limited operational information as described in the Privacy Policy.
What information should I include in a support email?
Please include:
- a clear description of the issue;
- your iPhone model;
- your iOS version;
- whether Screen Time and notification permissions are enabled;
- screenshots or a short screen recording, if helpful;
- whether you are using Every App Open or Scheduled Times;
- whether the issue involves a subscription, restore, or paywall.
